Residential Paving

Project Details

For this project, we paved a county lane, driveway & turnabout in Bloomfield, KY.

While preparing to pave this driveway, we determined that we would have to redo the existing grade and contours. The driveway had a prominent crown in the center, along with several uneven bumps that needed to be smoothed out for a level, long-lasting surface. Additionally, the edges were low and required building up to ensure proper water runoff and a seamless transition to the surrounding landscape. To address these issues, we had to carefully regrade the surface, redistributing material to eliminate the high spots while reinforcing the edges with compacted asphalt to prevent future crumbling.

For this regrade and paving project on a county lane, we encountered the challenge of loose size 57 rock that wasn’t providing a solid enough base for the new asphalt. To address this, we removed the loose rock and replaced it with dense grade, a preferred sub-base material for paving. Dense grade is highly compactable, providing a stable and durable foundation to lay asphalt over. This step was crucial for ensuring the longevity and performance of the new pavement. By using dense grade, we created a strong, reliable base that will support the asphalt for years to come.
